Um I can't think of any but just wanted to say Philip Pullman rocks didy ou enjoy him?
Was I reading too fast or did I not see J.R.R. Tolkien on there. Also H.P. Lovecraft and Marion Zimmer-Bradley are good as well as Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
Barbara Delinsky, Douglas Adams, Iris Johansen, Jackie Collins, James Patterson, Piers Anthony, Sara Paretsky, Sue Grafton. Those are the ones I can think of; hope the list helps. *smile* I love reading too.
Rick Cook, Mercedes Lackey, Robert Asprin, Terry Prachett
Storm Constantine... Poppy Z Brite...M.R James...Bram Stoker....Dean Koontz...Philip K Dick..Arthur C Clarke...Richard Bachman...
hmm, richard bachman, i have them ones already. thats stephen kings pen name. yes i have read phillip pullman and he did rock. The fantasy that i like the most, is um usually stuff like phillip pullman, terry goodkind and robert jordan, plus r.a. salvatore, i am not a fan of the lord of the rings. but i love harry potter he rules. lol.
but here is a couple of authors i forgot to put. Tom Clancy, Clive Barker, Elmore lenoard, and clive barker.
enjoy,
Xena,
charles De Lint, a series called River world, can't recall the author
Tolkien wrote more than LotR. He wrote The Silmarillion, check that out.
oh wow!!! This topic will definetely help me out during this summer!!! heheheehhe I needed books too!!! Have you ever read "Wicked: the life and times of the wicked witch of the west?" It's a really good book!!! *sexy*
Ok. I could go on for pages and pages about authors that havne't been listted here, but here are some. Good luck finding them..if you really get stuck looking for this stuff, let me know and I can probably hook you up:
Clark ashton Smith (my favourite author at the moment)
H. P. lovecraft
Robert W. Chambers ("The King in Yellow" is the book you want, and it's available online as its not very in print....do a google search)
Robert E. Howard
C. L. Moore
Jac Vance (a must read!)
Tanith Lee
Harlan Ellison
R. Scott Bakker
Edgar Allan Poe
Robert Bloch
Michael Moorcock (fantastic!)
Frank herbert (more science fiction I guess, but I think you may enjoy him)
Mervyn Peake
Enough for now eh?
Try Kay Hooper and Linda Howard.
The Riverworld series is by Phillip Jose Farmer. Those are interesting, but I did like them. A couple more fantasy authors: Terry Brooks (especially the Shannara books, but the Landover series is fun as well), and David Eddings. Read the Belgariad series, followed by the Malorion series, both of which are excellent.
anybody familiar with George R. R. Martin's "Ice and Fire" trilogy? I'm not, meself, but it is supposed to be good, sophisticated (read non-fluffy) fantasy. Think I will give it a try soon.

hmmm, the only one i can think of is Kirt vonnigutt JR oh, and perhaps niell gaimon.
Try Mary Roberts Rinehart. I've read a couple books by her, and they were pretty good.
ACD Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Carolyn Kene
Franklyn dixson
I recommend those. They are mystery, but ACD writes the best. I’d prefer Sherlock Holmes over Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys any day.
Mary Higgins Clark has pretty good books.
How about Ray Bradberry and Greg Iles?
